Type Locality and Naming

Along the Yakarche River, north slope of the Gissar Range. V.D. Saltovskaya, 1969 (403, p. 44). Stratotype along the Yarkarche River.

Synonym: Yakarchinskaya Suite, Якарчинская св.


Lithology and Thickness

At the base, sandstones, conglomerates, shales, above - dark carbonaceous limestones. Thickness 150m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Lies sharply unconformably on Middle Devonian limestones

Upper contact

Conformably overlain by the Sangalt Fm (Bezuglov et al., 1985). (439; 460).

Regional extent

Northern slope of the Gissar Range, in the form of separate strips.

Contains brachiopods - Gigantoproductus sarsimbai Serg., G. mirus Freks.; corals - Lithostrotion junceum Flem., L. irregulare Fill., foraminifers - Monotaxis Gibba (Moell.), Mediocris cf. ovalis Viss., Planoarchaediscus Spirillinoides (Raus.), Eostaffella proikensis Raus., Forschia mikhailovi Dain., characteristic of Visean deposits.
